Divine Will

Calling it to you creates an enormous infusion of spiritual energy into your life that awakens new consciousness and realizations.” (Sanaya Roman, taken from the web site by Orin and DaBen) As I continue to work with Divine Will I continue to be challenged to surrender even more to my Divine Self. The part of myself that is attached to the earth plane and to everyday consciousness has trouble trusting a higher power to guide my life. I am not sure why I do not trust my higher power because I have been shown many times that there is a higher intelligence guiding me in life and yet I feel a need to control.

At this time, on my path of growth and spiritual evolution, the challenge is “letting go”. Can I really surrender to Divine Will? In my work as a psychotherapist with individuals, many clients tell me they have trouble trusting. As we go through our lives we will all experience betrayals, negative outcomes, mistakes, and bad choices (our own and others). These negative experiences color our perceptions. We begin to say to ourselves and to others, this is good and this is bad. We forget that an experience is a single moment in time. Over time we change, we can evolve, and we can even learn to look at “bad experience” as a “growth experience”. We all have the power to change our perceptions.

I want to surrender to Divine Will and in order to do this more completely I will have to change my perceptions of events from my past. The only thing that keeps me from trusting my higher power is fixed perceptions that are fear based. I am afraid to hand over control to an outside force. But if I don’t hand over control I will be limited to my own small perceptions of life. Needing control is an illusion that is based on limited perceptions. Trusting is the path to the truth and the path to a fulfilling empowered life.

For those of us who have a meditation practice we have an opportunity daily to clear our consciousness and ask for new perceptions from the Divine Self. We can even ask for help in becoming more trusting. Whenever we ask for inspiration from the Divine Self we also must be willing to listen and receive that inspiration. Shifting perceptions, listening, and opening to receive, are ways to build trust and hand over control. In my heart I realize that handing over control to Divine Will and to my Higher Power is the only way to reach my highest potential.
